Who is John McRay?
McRay studied at Hebrew University, the Ecole Biblique et Archeologique Francaise in
Jerusalem, Vanderbilt University Divinity School, and the University of Chicago (where he got his doctorate).
As a professor, he enjoyed writing and teaching about ancient times. He also had a personal interest in
excavations, and he would dig up facts that the excavations uncovered. His interest eventually led him to
the idea of whether archaeology could prove the New Testament. McRay says that archaeological evidence can
be used as proof for the authenticity of the New Testament. Through the evidence, one can prove that the
events and places in the Bible were real.
